Awana

AWANA is an international youth organization dedicated to reaching boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him.  Awana is an acronym for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed,” taken from II Timothy 2:15: “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” (NIV)

Awana is an activity-filled club that emphasizes memorizing scripture and fun.  It includes Cubbies (two years prior to K-5), Sparks (Kindergarten-Grade 2) and Truth & Training: T&T (Grade 3-6).

Cubbies is an exciting program where children learn key basic truths about the Christian faith and memorize Scripture.  Puppets, crafts, games, awards and other activities transform this preschool program into a lively weekly experience where fun and learning go hand in hand.

A typical club night for the Sparks and T&T includes Handbook Time, when a child recites learned scripture to a leader and earns achievement awards; Game Time, a time of organized fun team competition filled with participation and enthusiasm; Council Time, a group Bible study time; and Award Time, when each child is presented the achievement award that was earned.
